About Us

The Odyssey opened its doors to the public on the 20th of December 2003, just a year after construction began, by Akasia Magnum Hospitality. The company wanted to enter the domestic hospitality business to pamper India's new luxury-seeking high spenders.

The company's first restaurant venture, The Odyssey, is a two floor structure modelled after the interior of a cruise liner. The restaurant, berthed at Gurgaon's Sahara Mall (map) opened with more than 300 personalities and media personnel in attendance. The inauguration, technically called 'christening', consisted of a bottle of champagne being broken against the 'hull' of the 'ship'; a tradition that has seen no change in the last 300 years.

The Odyssey comprises of a 110 seater fine dining restaurant and a 10 seater bar named 'Rumline'. Here, patrons may enjoy a snack or even an entire meal at the bar while watching something entertaining on our large plasma display. There is also 'The Promenade' which is the outdoor dining area that occupies the outer edge of the restaurant. The Promenade can be ideal for a private party for up to about 50 people. Call us for more information regarding your next event or party.

Our premium nightclub, The Deck, can comfortably handle 500 people, in it's inner and outer areas. Private parties during the weekdays are also a common occurrence. Private parties work on a 'per head' basis. You have a very flexible choice between food or drinks or both. Please contact us if you need assistance planning out a private party or special event/occasion. The club, since it openened in late 2003 has seen the likes of DJ Aqeel, Akbar Sami, DJ Nadja from Germany and many more.

The restaurant serves traditional Indian, Oriental, Thai, Iranian and Mediterranean specialities to suit every discerning palate. We make no compromise on food quality. None of our ingredients are genetically modified and all ingredients have been locally acquired from trusted sources.

Akasia Magnum Hospitality made sure not to leave any stones unturned; the roof of the building was re-designed to make it look like the hull of a ship. Ship artifacts that adorn the restaurant were hand picked from shipyards in Jakarta and Bandung. Also, We have had chefs specially flown in from Iran and Thailand to add to the authencity of the food served served here at The Odyssey.

The interiors of the 17,000 sq ft restaurant have been lavishly done up in wood and water screens, little water channels done up with shells, adding to the whole ambience and the look of a modern day cruise liner.

Renowned food consultants, Manu & Sonia Mohindra, owners of Under One Roof Hotel Consultants have also been hired to look into food innovation techniques. In addition, two marketing managers have also been appointed to look into corporate sales.

The restaurant has everything to resemble a sea-faring ship - from a short promenade, rippling water pools, and of course, the sea of Gurgaon's rising skyscrapers for a view.
